Often we walk through life feeling invincible, that some how all bad things happen to all your friends on facebook but they would never happen to you or the people you love. Then one day you get that call or text and you realize how truly vincible you are. My little nephew Wyatt was running around my property out here in Loma a little over a month ago and if you were to tell me he was going to be in the hospital fighting for his life soon, I would have called you a liar. He was keeping up with my boys in everyway. Two weeks ago his parents took him to the doctor because he was sick and not getting better. He had a really low iron count so they sent them to primary children's hospital. Shortly after, he was diagnosed with Leukemia. He actually has a rare aggressive form of Leukemia, AML. According to my brother, "Only 500 kids get it in the world every year, so it is kind of like winning the lottery backwards." He has constantly been in our thoughts and in our prayers.

Wyatt didn't want to shave his hair. He loves his hair. My heart broke when I heard that because James loves his hair too. (James and Wyatt are the same age.) He is very specific when we go to the hairdresser. He cracks me up. He tells them specifically not to cut it too short. Ashton likes his hair short and spiked but James likes his long and combed to the side. I talked to him about shaving his head for Wyatt and he insisted he didn't want to be bald. I let it go. The next day he came up to me and said, "I want to shave my head." We got the clippers out and as I pulled them through his hair and watched it all fall to the ground I had to catch my breath. I know how much his hair means to him. I also thought of Chrissy watching her little boy Wyatt lose his hair not by choice or in support like my James but because of the harsh treatments his body was being put through to fight off a cancer he didn't ask for.

My brother Michael and his wife Chrissy had six kids in six years. Whenever I really think about that, I think now there's a family that could do anything. Specifically, there's a woman that could do anything. They are brave and courageous and faith filled and they will come out on the other side of this more amazing than they were. She has a blog and has been updating it. She is an incredible writer and they are such beautiful people inside and out. I know she wouldn't mind if you follow them. craventhegoodlife.com
