BRINGING BACK PRETTY

There is something that has concerned me about raising little girls. I feel it when I see Sierra shaking her little bum. (Call me a prude.) I feel it when I see other little girls her same age wearing Minny skirts. I feel it more now that she has out grown the children's section at Target and is now moving into a new phase where classy is less accessable. I want her to be classy. I especially want her to wear classy dresses during her Tween and Teen years. I want her to be pretty and not hot. This article has put into words how I have felt for a long time.

You didn't know I could sketch, did you? Well I can sew too. Click here. So, in an effort to bring back pretty I am going to make the dress that gets the most votes for my daughter Sierra. The pictures are numbered like you read left right, up and down, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. VOTE. In March I will post a picture of her in her new dress.

It gets even better. I will make two dresses. I will draw a random winner from the votes on this post next Friday and I will make the dress for their daughter too. She can be any age from 6-14. The project will be done by the end of March just in time for Easter. So vote!

After much debate I decided my #5 is my favorite (especially if it had a peter pan collar). But Hailey's vote goes for #1. But they all look amazing!

Lisa! You are SO VERY talented. One of each please! :)

I was going to say #1 I love the long upper body part because my girls have a tall upper torso. But then I decided I absolutely love the second one! It seems similar to the first but it goes up a little higher for their not so broad shoulders. Lisa they're all really good and your daughter will love to wear any of them!

I would make them all if I were you but I #5 is my fav.

I vote for #1. Are you going to do a photo shoot of her in her new dress? I would love to see that!

My vote is for number 3.

I like 2,4,&5 best. But after serious reflection I like 2&5. In the end I'll say 5. 2 seems so grown up and she is still so young... 5 is more grown up than 4. So, there you go... My reasoning for voting dress #5. Wish Ruby were a bit older!

Ps. You are too talented for words! These sketches are uh-mazin!

I love them all but #5 is my favorite! You really are such a talented lady! I think Tally would look so beautiful in all of them...hint hint....

I like #5, but they are all cute.

They are all very cute. I like #1 because it reminds me of Pollyanna...Anne and I just watched that movie the other day. My vote goes to #3 though because I think it looks the most classy...isn't that what we are going for here. Plus I think Anne would look so cute in it...

For me it is between 2 and 4, but in the end, I think 4 wins out. Mostly because, like someone else commented, it is more of a little girl dress than 2, although 2 is very stylish. So...#4!!! And I hope I win. :)

Um, that was Jana. But hey, maybe we can put both our names in the drawing. Lol. #4!

Is it too late to enter? I've been looking at your blog all weekend and Elizabeth said she saw the actual sketches and thought they were beautiful.
I've had such a hard time buying dresses for my girls that weren't spaghetti straps, strapless, and cut up to their booties. I even complained to one of the managers at Kohl's. Thank goodness for shrugs, but I hate buying something that needs altered in some way, why can't they just be trendy and modest. I know it can be done! Thanks Lisa!

I vote for #2. This is a wonderful cause, Lisa! Bringing back the value of pretty. The writer of the article talked about "projecting a public innocence." I think it would have been better said to say "purity" instead of innocence, because purity is choice, innocence is not knowing any different.

I'm with you in your cause, my friend.

Came over from Annie's blog. I am glad to see another mother taking a stand in the fight for our daughters modesty. The dresses you have designed are amazing. I like #1 & #2!

I support you in the cause. After all I am the mother to 3 daughters. I know how important this issue has become.
