GOING HOME

I drove with the girls for four hours. I think that is the longest I have ever driven by myself and definitely the longest I have ever driven alone with the girls. They were good through the canyon, which I was grateful for, but the last hour CC teased MJ mercilessly and MJ screamed her ear piercing screams in defense. I thought I was going to strangle both of them. I tried to distract them by counting down land marks that reached home; the Green River, the red cliffs, the dusty gray landscape, the rock walls that curve along the highway, and finally the farms. Then the offramp. I exclaimed, "We are here. We are in Fruita." I think the girls could have carelessed, they were too crabby but I was so grateful.
